A Breadwinner-Homemaker Family is an employed father, a nonemployed mother, and their children. This type of family life was dominant during the 1950s. The father would go off to work while the mother stayed home taking care of the house and kids. In today's society, it is common to see both father and mother making income and still taking care of the house and kids. In some cases the mother would take over as the breadwinner leaving the father to care for the house and kids.
